Understanding Our Grants
What does random selection mean?
In keeping with our belief that everyone deserves the chance to build a family, all event grants are awarded through random selection.
Why should I build a team?
Team building applies only to applicants of Fun Run Grant Giving Events. Creating a team of supporters serves three purposes:
- Raise Awareness – Invite friends and family to help spread awareness of infertility.
- Boost Participation & Fundraising – The more people involved, the greater the impact.
- Increase Grant Opportunities – Each supporter’s registration includes one complimentary ticket, which may be entered on behalf of your team in the random selection for a Footsteps Grant.
During registration, you’ll have the option to create a team. This is the best way to organize your supporters. Encourage your friends and family to join—together, you’ll strengthen your chances of receiving a grant.
How much is a grant application?
Grant Giving Event Applications
The grant application fee is $30 and must be accompanied by an event registration and attendance, which costs $35.
National Application
On average, a couple spends about $100 to participate in a 5K Grant Giving Event:
- Registration: $35 × 2 = $70
- Application Fee: $30
- Total: $100
For consistency, the National Application is also offered at $100 per applicant couple.
Why is there an application fee?
Application fees help cover the cost of our online automated application system, which streamlines the process given our limited staff resources. In addition, these fees directly support monetary Footsteps for Fertility Foundation Grants.
How much is my grant worth and will it cover my entire treatment?
The value of a grant is not a fixed number. Our Foundation operates through the generous in-kind donations of services from participating clinics, which may not always have an exact dollar amount assigned. Monetary grants are typically $5,000 when funding allows, but may be less if the required treatments cost less.
We recognize that our grants may not cover the full cost of many treatment plans. In most cases, applicants should expect additional expenses beyond what either type of grant provides. If you are not prepared to cover the remaining costs, this grant may not be the right fit.
Our goal is to assist as many families as possible—helping them take the first steps toward building their families while reducing the financial burden of fertility treatments.
